LA County Fair incredible fun for everyone
For over 90 years, Pomona, California has been the home of the LA County Fair. Running from September 4-27, the LA County Fair is one of the oldest and largest of its kind in the US, attracting over 1 million people annually.
And while county fairs tend to have a decidedly agricultural emphasis the LA County Fair has moved away from livestock competitions and the like. If you’ve got kids, this is the place to bring them — the fair features a petting zoo, an outdoor miniature garden railroad, an underwater oceanic exhibition, a fully functioning farm and the America’s Kids Education Expo.
Oh, there’s also the midway, stocked with rides for kids of all shapes and sizes (including the grown-up ones). From the kiddie rides to roller coasters for braver types to the Ferris wheel for those wanting to see the fair from above, there’s a ride at the LA County Fair with your name on it.
The LA County Fair attracts an incredible lineup of musicians every year as well. Included in this year’s End of Summer Concert Series lineup are The Beach Boys, Chicago, Boz Scaggs, ZZ Top & Blackberry Smoke, Kool & the Gang, Train, Patti LaBelle & Chaka Khan, Lynyrd Skynyrd and more.
Speaking of music, the high school marching band parade competition is a great chance for young and old to watch Southern California kids march, play and show off in the hopes of winning the fair’s $10,000 grand prize.
Of course LA offers so much in the way of dining, shopping, entertainment and more. So if the LA County Fair really isn’t your thing, there are always plenty of options.
