RedBull Cliff Diving Brings Intense Fun To Boston
If cliff diving to you means soaring out over open water in the middle of the wilderness, prepare to have your socks blown off in the heart of Boston. The fifth stop in Red Bull’s Cliff Diving World Series, the August 25 event in Boston puts a decidedly modern twist on the age-old tradition of cliff diving.
Boston’s Institute of Contemporary Art will serve as the platform from which competitors will launch themselves into Boston Harbor. There are no tea parties here — just pure adrenaline pushing divers to the limit.
Jutting out over Boston Harbor, ICA Boston is the perfect venue for the Red Bull Cliff Diving event. The roof stands 80 feet above the harbor’s surface, and the water is around 23 feet deep at the spot most divers will make their point of entry.
Boston’s Red Bull Cliff Diving event is free and there are plenty of vantage points to watch competitors leap into Boston Harbor. The ICA Grandstand offers a great view, as do the public areas along Fan Pier. Red Bull will be setting up jumbo video screens so spectators can see divers up close as well as watch replays of these incredible acts of courage.
Alternately start your day at ICA Boston, touring the venue’s incredible exhibits and installations. The works at ICA Boston will challenge you to think critically about what you see and experience, be it in photographs, paintings, multimedia, or otherwise. Once you’re finished with the (relatively) heavier stuff, get your pulse racing by checking out the cliff diving competition from the John Hancock Founder’s Gallery on the fourth floor.
Red Bull doesn’t do anything half-heartedly and there are sure to be many events adjacent to the cliff diving competition. Bring your friends or your family and experience Boston like you never have before.
