Savile Row Comes to The Jefferson DC
London’s famed Savile Row comes to The Jefferson DC for two weekends of bespoke tailoring consultations with Kathryn Sargent.

A complimentary consultation with Ms. Sargent is offered with the booking of one of the The Jefferson’s signature deluxe suites. Suite thematics include horticulture, literature, zoology and astronomy and Plume’s Wine Director will pair the thematic with a suitable wine to enjoy during the tailoring experience.
Magellan Luxury Hotels asked Ms. Sargent what clients should expect during the consultation:
1. How long is the consultation?
A first consultation usually lasts for approximately one hour.
2. What, precisely, will happen at the consultation?
The initial consultation will cover all the questions a client may have about his or her wardrobe requirements, and is an opportunity for me to get to know their lifestyle and what is important to them. I use this information and translate it into bespoke garment options, which I think would complement each client’s individual needs. I would discuss the bespoke process and different cloth and style options with them. I don’t have a house style, which means the process is completely driven by the client’s needs, and allows for greater scope in creating unique garments. If I am meeting with a client for the first time I would discuss style and take measurements during the consultation, and begin their bespoke journey.
3. What should clients bring with them?
It is useful for me to see photos of their existing pieces, or pictures of garments that they don’t currently have, but would like to own. However if a client doesn’t have either of these things that isn’t a problem, as we will discuss their ideas and requirements at the beginning of their consultation.
4. Do you present fabric samples, photos or suit examples?
I will provide an extensive portfolio of fabric samples, so there will be plenty of options for clients to choose from. However, as is the nature of bespoke tailoring, if a client has a specific cloth request I will try to accommodate this from other sources. I will bring out garments for existing clients that are currently being worked on.
5. What if a couple both want to participate? Would that require more time or an additional fee?
I welcome couples to attend an initial consultation together. This would usually require more time, depending on their requirements, and there would be no fee for this additional service.
6. Are you only doing consultations at The Jefferson DC during your trips or do you offer other U.S. cities?
I have an exclusive partnership with the Jefferson Hotel in Washington D/C, and a consultation with me is part of their ‘Tailored Weekends’ package for their guests.
I meet with new and existing clients at the other hotels [in other U.S. cities] during my stay, usually 3 times a year. I always welcome feedback from my clients, in order to provide them with the best possible experience.
The fine print: Dates for Tailored Weekends are based upon availability. Guests must book one week in advance and stay between June 17 – 19 or November 18 – 20, 2016.
